The final touches on Bellevue Square’s $45 million “New Vue” have arrived just in time for the holidays.

“We have been eager to remodel Bellevue Square for some time,” said Kemper Freeman, Jr., Chairman and CEO of Kemper Development Company. “Our vision is to bring The Square to a new level of quality that matches the growing demands of our Bellevue Square shoppers and positions The Square for the addition of more luxury retail and prestigious brands.”

The remodel, set entirely within the existing structure, focused on creating an “urban garden” look and feel. It included a complete redesign of the flooring, seating, major entrances and the center court elevators.

Visitors to Bellevue Square will be struck by the lightness of the space created by the new lime-stone flooring and glass railings. Accents of cherry wood and stainless steel enhance the overall look and highlight the architecture of the existing building.

New seating and carpeted areas create more comfortable gathering spaces, a design strategy that is carried through the properties that comprise The Bellevue Collection.

One of the most popular additions is the Kids’ Cove play area now located on the third level of Center Court. Traditions built among generations at play on the tug boat and the ferry boat have been enhanced with more climbing toys, a lighthouse, a much larger area for children and more seating for parents.

“Throughout our history, since my father built the first 16-store center in 1946, our goal has been to make Bellevue Square the premier shopping experience on the Eastside,” added Freeman. “Since then, The Square has seen many remodels and additions, including The Corner Building in 2000 (home to its anchor Crate & Barrel). The time was right to complete a major upgrade to enhance Bellevue Square and the customer experience when shopping at The Bellevue Collection.”
