THE CONVENIENCE OF LIVING AND WORKING IN DOWNTOWN BELLEVUE

Host 1,000 people for dinner, plan overnight rooms for 500 and coordinate activities for 2,000 guests? No problem. This is a typical work day for Kendall McElliott, sales manager for the Sheraton Bellevue.

Kendall enjoys the personal interaction her job offers with clients, customers and co-workers. "I can't imagine working or living anywhere else,” she said. “I love Bellevue!"

Kendall grew up in Shelton. She attended Western Washington University and moved to Bellevue after graduation.

Kendall is grateful for her simple commute and easy access to life’s activities. “My work is just five minutes away, and I can easily get my shopping done, see a movie and enjoy a nice meal without going far.” For Kendall, everything is right outside her front door. “I can run to the gym, walk to the store and stroll to the park. I could easily live here without a car."

To unwind, Kendall works out at 24 Hour Fitness. Then it’s time for a little nightlife. "I think I've been to every happy hour in Downtown Bellevue. The Parlor is my favorite.” Kendall raves about The Parlor’s varied drink selection, friendly staff and menu. Her top recommendation is the Parlor’s mini burgers with waffle fries.

Gilbert's on Main is Kendall’s top stop for a quick bite. "The food is so good, you can sit outside in the summertime and Steve Gilbert is great!"

Another restaurant favorite is the Rock Bottom Brewery. She enjoys Rock Bottom’s live entertainment on Saturday nights and recommends the Asiago cheese dip. Kendall believes the only thing missing in Downtown Bellevue is a bigger selection of night clubs with dancing and music.

She is excited by Downtown Bellevue’s growth and the opportunities it brings, but she cautions, “I don’t want Downtown Bellevue to lose its character and charm.”
