Home Sweet Office

With the recent growth in telecommuting from downtown Bellevue residences, home offices are becoming a necessity rather than a luxury. Whether you work from home or simply need a place to pay the bills and surf the net, a home office or work area can be hallowed ground. It is the place where things get done, intended to inspire focus and creativity. However, the style and design of that space can either make it a sanctuary or a source of anxiety. If it is difficult to maneuver around or leaves you less than inspired, perhaps it’s time to review the options.

The key to designing a home office is to examine the dimensions of your space and assess your personal needs, according to Ray Mahan of Scan Design Furniture, a Downtown Bellevue fixture since 1964 specializing in Scandinavian contemporary furniture. With the rise in urban dwellings, the need for a compact workspace is becoming more critical. If your only option is a bedroom corner, you might consider the All-In-One cabinet style desk, which can be tucked away when not in use. If you have an entire room to devote, the team at Scan Design can help you identify the best set up for the space and customize the furniture to fit. Don’t forget to include a sliding monitor platform and ergonomic desk chair!

Whether you are considering redesigning your home office or downsizing your entire living space from a single-family residence to a new condominium or apartment, downtown Bellevue merchants provide a wealth of options to select from. Refer to our resource column for more details. For a complete listing of furniture stores in the downtown Bellevue area, please visit bellevuedowntown.com.
