Hyatt Regency Bellevue $185 Million
Expansion
Set to Open July 2009
Twenty
years ago, Hyatt Regency Bellevue formed a graceful new dimension on
Bellevue’s growing skyline. This summer, the hotel will expand
in shape and service with the addition of a 20-story tower, 351 guest
rooms, convention and meeting space and a destination restaurant.
The Hyatt Regency Bellevue tower will increase the hotel’s event space to 60,000 square feet, highlighted by a 18,000 square-foot Grand Ballroom that can accommodate many of the region’s largest events. The addition will also house a second 14,000 square-foot ballroom, a sloped 120-seat auditorium and seven versatile conference suites
Inside, the new tower will present a tranquil environment forits guests with open, airy spaces and a rich palette of accent colors in gold, chocolate brown and deep red. The use of sophisticated design materials — including maple, dark stained walnut and Japanese inspired detail — plays further tribute to the Asian infl uence in the Northwest and weaves a regional thread into the overall aesthetic.
The addition will connect to the existing Hyatt Regency Bellevue building through the newly renovated Wintergarden. A grand staircase will anchor the area, surrounded by luminous Koa wood and natural daylight. Arcs of rich, dark metal will support the staircase and provide a contrast to the solid blocks of golden Ambar stone and white terrazzo flooring.
The façade of the tower is comprised mainly of brick, pre-cast accent bands and floor to ceiling glass in the guestrooms. Kemper Development Company selected Sclater Partners Architects to design the new tower, which remains on schedule for a July 2009 opening.
The grand opening event will be held the first week in October to coincide with the Bellevue Collection’s 2009 Fashion Week, which will take place in the Hyatt Regency Bellevue event space.
