Urban Living
The Convenience of Living, Working and Playing in Downtown Bellevue
Police Major Todd Simonton
Todd Simonton's reasons for living downtown are fairly typical. He
enjoys his short walk to work and any number of outings made easy, like
jaunts to great restaurants, neighborhood parks and big community events.
But when the day job calls for managing 100+ officers in the Bellevue
Police Department’s patrol, SWAT, traffic, hostage negotiation,
canine, crowd control and special enforcement units, a little convenience
can go a long way.
Major Simonton and his wife Patricia, a Bellevue Police Corporal, reside
at The Palazzo, which certainly must be one of the safest spots in the
city.
Although they don't share the same work shift, they do share a fondness for their quick commute and easy access to favorite downtown destinations.

Todd and Patricia enjoy first-run movies at both Lincoln Square and
the Bellevue Galleria.
Z'Tejas tops their list for a night on the town. "I like the atmo-sphere
and it offers Southwest style food with a zesty twist." Todd’s
recommendation is the gorgonzola New York strip.
When not dining out, you'll find Todd at home preparing his signature
dish of jambalaya or gumbo. Cooking is a hobby that takes his mind off
work.
Another unwinding technique for this active pair; "We like to walk to the park to relax in our down time," said Todd.
Other downtown favorites on this couple’s “must do”
list include the Bellevue Arts Museum ArtsFair, Snowflake Lane and skating
at the Bellevue Magic Season ice rink.
In all, Todd has spent 26 years of his professional life in Downtown
Bellevue. “I enjoy being a part of the community 24/7, not just
showing up to work.”
As for his work philosophy, Todd shared, "I often tell my officers they didn't go through everything they did to get where they are to stand on the sidelines. We're here to make a difference."
