They Play— You Sing! 2007 Rockaraoke
2006 Live at Lunch Rockaraoke Champion Angie Dunn wins the tie-breaker performance of “Billie Jean”
Think you’ve got what it takes to be crowned Downtown Bellevue’s top rock star? The Bellevue Downtown Association's 2007 Live at Lunch Rockaraoke competition will take center stage Thursday, August 23 at the Bellevue Galleria. The grand prize will include certificates and gifts from several Downtown Bellevue merchants.
This is serious business and the competition is fierce. Forget the cheesy video and bouncing ball, this contest features a live band and great local talent.
The 2006 Live at Lunch Rockaraoke competition required a tie-breaker performance of Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” between finalists Angie Dunn and Sarah Pinzon. Pinzon won the competition three years ago but Dunn wowed the judges with her style and voice.
“The contestants were so into the event; we loved watching all of their performances,” remarked Megan Fricke, 2006 Rockaraoke judge. “It was very tough deciding on the best one and of course the crowd had their favorites too. It was a great day for Angie Dunn — her enthusiasm, professionalism and commitment to this competition definitely showed.”
After being crowned “2006 Downtown Bellevue Rock Star”
graphic designer Angie Dunn admitted that she had never performed the
song live before when the judges called for the tie-breaking sing-off
between the two finalists. “I love doing karaoke,” remarked
Dunn,
“but Rockaraoke was so much better! Having the opportunity to
do two songs was great — the band rocks!”
