Side by Side: A Sneak Peek at Living and Working
in Downtown Bellevue

If you want the inside scoop on downtown Bellevue’s hidden gastronomical treasures, just ask Lynn and Rob Knowles. The two moved into their condominium at Palazzo two years ago and have already uncovered a buffet of the out-of-the-ordinary to enjoy.

“Saturday afternoons at Pete’s is wine tasting,” said the two as they happily ramble off a host of things to do. “But our favorite thing to do,” interjects Lynn, laughingly, “is sample surf on Tuesdays at Whole Foods. We start at the fruit and continue along for a full course meal complete with dessert.”

Talking with the married real estate agents, you get the sense that they could make a root canal feel like a party. Frequently finishing each other’s sentences, they punctuate their comments with bursts of laughter. “Boredom” is clearly not one of the words in their vocabulary.

“There’s so much to do in downtown Bellevue,” said Rob. “Coffee and book browsing at Barnes and Noble; a movie at Bellevue Galleria; drinks and dinner at Ruth’s Chris. And Lynn loves shopping at Kasala, Crate and Barrel and Pier 1 Imports.”

Lynn chimed in, “We love the special events too, like the 4th of July Celebration or the Jazz Concert series in the summer. Last year, we had friends over before the Arts and Crafts Festival and headed over en masse.”

Living in downtown Bellevue is a bit of a homecoming for the two. They grew up in Bellevue and both went to Bellevue Jr. High School – where the downtown park is now – and Bellevue Senior High School. But it wasn’t until they had begun their professional careers that they met and fell in love. That was over 20 years ago.
“We’ve lived everywhere from Kirkland and Redmond to Queen Anne and Ballard, but nothing compares to downtown Bellevue. Everything you need is within a few short blocks and we’re just minutes from downtown Seattle,” said Rob.

Lynn agreed saying, “We’re really excited about the city’s continued evolution. We’re looking forward to discovering more shops, cafes and performing art centers as the community grows.”

And discovering those new jewels will be even easier for the two. They plan on buying a pair of Vespas to tool around the city on. So if you see two matching scooters cruising the streets – you might want to follow. To paraphrase their favorite quote, wherever they go, there will be fun.
