Despite a difficult economic climate, these six companies arent just surviving theyre thriving. The following is a look at downtown Bellevue companies whose technology and concepts have allowed them to impact people around the globe.
Activated Content
Summit Ridge
What they do: Activated Content produces anti-piracy copy protection products for the entertainment industry, including an audio watermark that binds identifying data to a recording.
What makes them innovative: They are the only company to effectively protect music during the vulnerable release cycle when music is often leaked to the public resulting in a devastating drop in post-release sales. The watermark allows them to track how the music was leaked and ensure it doesnt happen again. After only 11 months, the company is already under contract or in negotiations with five major U.S. record labels.
Intelligent Results

What they do: Intelligent Results offers a software product which analyzes unstructured data, helping financial institutions predict loan defaults. The application gathers data from 200 qualitative feeds, including customer service call center notes and customer emails.
What makes them innovative: Intelligent Results is the only company that analyzes unstructured data, transforming qualitative into quantitative. Many large companies already analyze structured data. However, this accounts for only 20% of the information available, whereas unstructured data accounts for 80%. With companies spending so much to track customer interactions, Intelligent Results allows companies to harness that data and make informed strategic decisions.
Esperanza

What they do: Esperanza is a non-profit which operates community development banks offering women low-interest loans in the Dominican Republic.
What makes them innovative: Esperanza encourages people to be a part of the solution, rather than offering a handout. Through their micro-financing program, they provide opportunities for the poor to become business owners. To date they have dispersed over 13,500 loans totaling $3.8 million with a 98% repayment rate. In December 2002, founder and former Mariner, David Valle, accepted the National Community Service Award from the President of the D.R. on behalf of Esperanza.

What they do: Contracted by corporations to help those affected by restructuring, Right provides a strategic approach to career transitioning. Right also conducts organizational consulting and provides leadership coaching to develop talent and help companies retain key performers.
What makes them innovative: While their attention is currently centered on career transitioning, Rights strength in organizational consulting means they are also well positioned for success when the economy turns around. Right works with 80% of the Fortune 500 companies and ranked 5th on Forbes Magazines list of the 200 Best Small Companies in America for 2002.
Sucker Punch

What they do: Sucker Punch develops Playstation2 video games for Sony. Their newest game, Sly Cooper, is currently available in stores.
What makes them innovative: Sucker Punch creates unique games and characters with personality and style, such as Sly Cooper, whose strength of identity relies greatly on the games compelling plot and hip comic book visuals. The game received an outstanding ranking of 96 out of 100 from trusted industry online reviewer gamerankings.com. Their success can partly be attributed to the range of players on the team, with backgrounds including comic books, feature films and high tech.
CEO Expeditions

What they do: CEO Expeditions offers chartered yachting expeditions that combine the luxury of five-star service and accommodations with a custom tailored, adventure-oriented itinerary.
What makes them innovative: With gourmet chefs and a crew to personally attend to guests, CEO Expeditions caters to the needs of who else? CEOs and other VIPs, including Al Pacino and Robin Williams, who escape public scrutiny on these private cruises to unspoiled hideaways.
