THE CULINARY HISTORY OF BELLEVUE
The culinary history of Bellevue is chronicled in a new book
published by The Eastside Heritage Center. Written by Suzanne Knauss,
The Culinary History of a Pacific Northwest Town, Bellevue, Washington
goes back to 1869 and ranges in topics from strawberry cultivation to
the advent of the drive-in. Readers will get a glimpse of the mid-century
suburban experience when soda fountains flowed and neighbors threw costume
balls and pancake breakfasts for good causes.
The book sells for $18.00 and contains dozens of historical photographs
and contemporary recipes, original art by Northwest artist Julie Creighton
and essays by Northwest historian Charles P. LeWarne and food historian
Jacqueline Williams.
