DOWNTOWN CONDO BUYERS
SEEKING AMENITIES, SHORT COMMUTE

With more than 1,400 condominium units under construction in Downtown Bellevue, you may ask, “Who’s moving in and why?”

“Over the past year, we’ve really seen the profile of buyers moving downtown diversify,” said Leslie Ota of Windemere Real Estate. Ota, who specializes in the burgeoning Downtown Bellevue market, tied demand to convenience and the strong set of amenities.

“A lot of folks working on the Eastside just don’t want to do the bridge commute anymore and others are realizing that living downtown is easy,” added Ota. “Work, fun, friends and errands are just steps away. And there’s no grass to mow.”

The first phase of Washington Square, with two towers and 379 condominiums, is nearing completion on NE 10th Street. Kate Burton, selection specialist for Washington Square, said the project’s convenient location and amenities appeal to a wide demographic.

“We have really been impressed with the diversity of our home buyers with a variety of ages and ethnic backgrounds,” said Burton.

This flurry of major new construction activity means buyers have more options.

Bellevue Towers, with two 40 story residential towers on their way at NE 4th Street and 106th Ave NE, will welcome residents in late 2008. The Bravern Residences at NE 6th Street and 110th Ave NE will open in 2009 with 450 condominium units.

“Downtown has something for everyone now, in many price points, and it’s just getting better,” said Ota.

For homeowners at Washington Square, Burton echoed the attraction of having more free time to spend. “With increasingly busy schedules, many of our buyers are looking for a simpler lifestyle.”
