I-405 CONGESTION
CONSTRUCTION
AND RELIEF

If you travel on I-405 to Downtown
Bellevue, you may have noticed construction starting this summer. Through
August 2009, the I-405 South Bellevue Widening Project will bring occasional
lane closures on I-405 between 112th Avenue SE and SE 8th Street.
TransManage, a service of the Bellevue Downtown Association, is your
resource to formulate commute plans, answer questions and explore travel
options. Carpooling, busing or biking even once or twice a week can
save you money, stress and time over the next two years.
The Washington State Department of Transportation is widening these
4 miles of I-405 primarily to relieve congestion into and out of Downtown
Bellevue. In addition, crews will install new HOV bypasses and ramp
meters, repair pavement, build noise mitigation and add stormwater treatment
to protect water quality. Lane additions will help reduce merging conflicts
and improve safety. Detailed project descriptions and timelines are
found here: www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/
