As a vibrant community Downtown Bellevue increasingly
attracts visitors, residents and commuters to live, work and experience
the area’s diverse shops, restaurants, events, and museums.
The Bellevue Downtown Association and its transportation arm, TransManage,
work with the downtown community to explore and develop transportation
solutions to assist businesses and their employees.
TransManage has developed programs and services designed to move
people to and through Downtown Bellevue. Recognizing that driving
to work is necessary for many employees, TransManage developed a
variety of transportation programs and services aimed at those interested
in biking, carpooling, vanpooling or riding the bus to work. Many
employers in Downtown Bellevue offer employees transportation benefits
such as discounted transit passes or reduced parking for carpoolers.
In cooperation with many of the Downtown Bellevue property managers,
TransManage provides free park days to some employees who regularly
travel to work using the bus, carpool, vanpool, bike or walk. This,
along with supporting Bike to Work Day, providing transit pass sales
and offering tailored transportation assistance result in a comprehensive
commuter program.
This fall, TransManage along with the City of Bellevue and King
County Metro will unveil the Downtown Bellevue In Motion program.
Based on a successful program conducted in Crossroads and various
neighborhoods in Seattle, Downtown Bellevue In Motion will reward
residents who, instead of relying on their cars, take the bus, ride
a bike or walk for either work or non-work trips.
Residents, who register with the program, commit to leaving their
car at home a few trips a week, record their travel behavior and
continue with the program for ten weeks will receive up to $50.00
in Bellevue Collection Gift Cards. Through programs that encourage
employees, and soon residents, to use the bus, bike, carpool, vanpool
or walk to, through and from Downtown Bellevue, TransManage’s
efforts play a vital piece in making Downtown Bellevue a great place
to live, work and play.
